Frequently asked questions about July breaks

What is the weather like in July?

July is typically the warmest month of the year in the UK, with average daytime temperatures ranging between 18°C and 24°C (64°F to 75°F), especially in southern regions. It's a popular time for holidays, with long daylight hours - up to 16 hours in some areas - and generally settled weather.

While much of the UK sees warm and pleasant conditions, occasional rain showers and overcast days are still possible, so it’s a good idea to pack light layers and a waterproof jacket. Coastal areas tend to be a bit cooler and breezier, while inland cities and countryside locations can feel quite warm, especially during heatwaves.

Which Warner Hotel is best to visit in July?

In July, each Warner Hotel offers a unique atmosphere, so the best choice depends on what kind of break you’re looking for.

Thoresby Hall in Nottinghamshire is a great option for a summer getaway, with expansive grounds and gardens, and exclusive events, including a headline performance from Sheridan Smith.

Bembridge Coast and Norton Grange on the Isle of Wight are both ideal for a relaxed seaside break, with coastal views and a peaceful atmosphere. There's also a lot to do on the Isle of Wight this summer, so it's ideal for those wanting to get out and about to explore.

Warner’s newest hotel, The Runnymede on Thames in Surrey, offers riverside tranquillity and scenic walks, making it a lovely choice for a laid-back July stay.

That said, all of our hotels and villages make for a great stay in July. - whether you're after live entertainment, fresh air and scenery, or a mix of both.

What should I pack for a UK break in July?

That all depends on how you plan to spend your break. However July is one of the warmest months in the UK, so it’s best to pack for mild to warm weather - but be prepared for a bit of everything.

Here’s a helpful packing checklist for your July holiday:

  • Light layers: T-shirts, short sleeves, and breathable fabrics for daytime comfort
  • A jumper or light jacket: Evenings can be cooler, especially by the coast or in the middle of the countryside
  • Waterproof jacket or umbrella: Occasional rain showers are still possible so it's always a good idea to bring these along
  • Comfortable shoes: For walks around hotel grounds, nearby villages, or along the beach
  • Swimwear: All our hotels have an indoor pool and sauna to use at your leisure all year round. Many have spa treatment rooms too, and you can easily book spa treatments on My Warner Stay
  • Smart-casual outfits: For dining and evening entertainment - you can wear whatever you're most comfortable in but you might also want to bring something a little dressier to make the most of the occassion
  • Sunglasses and sun cream: July can bring strong sunshine, particularly in southern areas
  • A good book or something to relax with: Perfect for unwinding on the terrace, in the gardens or by the pool

And don't forget your camera—July is a great time for scenic views and sunny photos!

Spa treatments are available at all locations excluding Corton Coastal Village and Norton Grange. Gunton Hall offers packages and treatments to guests staying at Corton Coastal Village. Norton Grange is excluded. Additional supplements apply.
