Symphonix Orchestra: Q&A with founder and musician Simon Ledger
3rd July 2025

Symphonix Orchestra is a renowned ensemble of over 30 top quality musicians from all around the UK and showcases a spectacular repertoire of shows. Created by founder Simon Ledger, this exciting 30-piece orchestra brings a fresh twist to traditional symphonic performances.
This September, the Symphonix Orcestra, joined by Platinum Queen with Dave Jerome as Freddie Mercury, will visit Studley Castle with their unique show, Symphonix Queen, that will light up the intimate stage at our impressive castle. As they pay homage to Queen's legacy, you’ll be reminded of the timeless appeal of their music and feel the fusion of classic and rock – a must for any die-hard Queen fans!

We’ve caught up with the talented founder and exceptional musician, Simon Ledger, to delve deeper into the world of this exciting ensemble...
How did you get into the magical world of performing?
“From the age of six I started piano and singing lessons and by the age of 11 my mum had encouraged me to work in hotels, pubs and clubs, performing hits by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Elton John and many more! At the age of 17 I joined my first cruise ship and never looked back, spending over 20 years on them, on and off.”
Where did the idea for the Symphonix Orchestra come from?
“Unfortunately, due to some health issues in 2022 I had to make the incredibly difficult decision to retire from performing and thought, “What’s next?”
"I had always wanted to perform with an orchestra but never had the chance. I looked into hiring one and producing a show and after several knock backs, I pursued putting one together myself with the help of friends and family to create something completely unique.”

How is Symphonix different from a regular orchestra?
“All our shows are created by myself and my father-in-law who was an incredible musical director for the likes of Roy Orbison and Joe Longthorne to name a few! I always look to throw in a few curve balls so that the audience is surprised and I believe that is what makes us different.”
Known as the orchestra with an edge, Symphonix has even had Darth Vader conduct parts of their shows before! And they’ve also been commissioned by boxing promoters to play iconic ring walks in huge venues to millions of people worldwide – the first orchestra to do so.
“You may have seen us recently as we played on Chris Eubank Junior in his match against Connor Benn. We only had about five days to create it!”
Classed as the most iconic ring walk in boxing history, you can check it out here.
What can guests expect from a Symphonix Orchestra show?
With all the Symphonix shows being completely original, Simon hopes every audience member will feel inspired and uplifted.
“I have always said that I want anyone who watches our shows to feel the hair on the back of their necks go when they hear the orchestra, in full, live in front of them!”
We have the most incredible musicians performing for us including a lot of ex Royal Marine players who are at the top of their game.”
Breathing new life and refreshing sound into some of the world’s most iconic songs and movie soundtracks, Symphonix showcases a new take on traditional orchestral arrangements.
"I do like to throw a few surprises in. All I’ll say is keep an eye out for our Punk Soprano in Symphonix Queen!”
Why do you love performing at Warner Hotels?
“I have performed at Warner Hotels for over twenty years in different formats, including as a solo performer and in a Beach Boys show. I love that each venue is completely different and has its own character and the entertainment teams are always so welcoming and friendly!”
What can you tell us about your newest show, Symphonix Christmas?

The 20-piece orchestra and two vocalists are coming to Cricket St Thomas in early December and headlining the Christmas break at our flagship destination, The Runnymede on Thames.
“Symphonix Christmas is going to be a show like no other. We have been very selective about which tracks we pick, as we like to show off our incredible vocalists but also showcase the skills of the 20-piece orchestra. Having the stunning sound of an orchestra behind you means we can make common hits sound so different!”
Step into the Christmas spirit as the orchestra perform timeless festive classics and more modern hits like “Last Christmas”, “Fairytale of New York” and many more!
And that’s not all... Symphonix returns in 2026!
